Tubewells to have fire safety equipment

AMRITSAR: State Warehousing Corporation chairperson Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Monday said that fire safety equipment will be installed at government tubewells in order to control accidental fire incidents.

Amritsar, May 21

State Warehousing Corporation chairperson Navjot Kaur Sidhu on Monday said that fire safety equipment will be installed at government tubewells in order to control accidental fire incidents.

On Sunday evening a house was gutted in Kangra Colony. The fire erupted in the upper two floors of the residence which was being used as a godown for storing electronic goods by a shopkeeper.

Firefighters had to press small fire tenders because of narrow streets. Encroachments by the Ram Nagar residents, electricity poles and loose cables led to unwanted obstacles. Sidhu said that necessary instructions have been issued to all the departments concerned to remove all sort of encroachments and loose cables. She said mock drills will be conducted in every ward to educate people. — TNS
