The Sadar police have booked three persons for assaulting a woman with an intent to outrage her modesty.

Those booked were identified as Balwinder Singh Tung, Angrej Singh and an unidentified person.

The victim stated to the police that yesterday she heard shouts from outside her residence and when she came outside, she found that the accused were using abusive language against her husband. She said when she tried to stop them, the accused caught hold of her arms and tore her clothes. Angrej Singh attacked her with a sharp weapon, thereby injuring her head, she alleged, adding that they fled when people started gathering to save her. She was admitted to the Civil Hospital.

The police have registered a case under Sections 354, 323 and 34, IPC, against the accused while they were yet to be arrested.

Meanwhile, the Gharinda police have booked Daljit Singh, alias Kaka, of Hadi Shah Mohalla in Attari under a similar offence.

The victim stated to the police that yesterday at 9 am when she was busy in her household work, the accused, who lives in the neighbourhood, entered the house by jumping over the wall. She alleged that the accused hugged her and started doing objectionable activities. She said she immediately raised the alarm, following which Gurmeet Kaur, her neighbour, came to her home. Seeing her, Daljit Singh fled. The police have registered a case under Section 354, IPC, in this connection.
