A large number of teachers under the banner of the Sarkari School Sikhia Bachao Manch staged a protest against the policies of the state government here on Wednesday. The agitated teachers also burnt an effigy of the state government after taking out a march in the town. They also raised slogans against the government.

The manch organised a rally at Gandhi Municipal Park in which many female teachers were present.

Ranjit Singh Bath, Jaswinder Singh Ghariala and Prabhjot Singh Gohalwar, representatives of different teachers’ organisations, addressed the agitating teachers and condemned the state government for its alleged anti-teachers policies. They demanded withdrawal of the new transfer policy and regularisation of the services of the teachers recruited under the SSA, RMSA, STR, AIE and EGS.
