Woman alleges rape, 3 booked

AMRITSAR: A 23-year-old married woman in Pandori village has accused a man of rape. Two unidentified persons, who accompanied the accused, have also been booked by the Lopoke police.

A 23-year-old married woman in Pandori village has accused a man of rape. Two unidentified persons, who accompanied the accused, have also been booked by the Lopoke police.

The incident occurred in the night intervening September 13 and 14. The complaint was lodged yesterday. The accused has been identified as Ganga Singh, a resident of Toor village. His accomplices are yet to be identified. A case under Section 376 of the IPC was registered against them. No arrest has been made so far.

The victim told police that she along with her husband was sleeping in the verandah of her house when at around 2 am the accused entered the house and pulled her out after covering her mouth.

According to her, she was taken to the fields nearby and raped.

Two booked for molestation

Meanwhile, the Amritsar rural police have booked two persons — Jarnail Singh and his brother Gurbhej Singh of Khurmania village — for allegedly stalking and molesting a married woman in Rampura village.

A case under Sections 354-D, 506 and 34 of the IPC has been registered against them. She told police that the accused entered her house on Sunday when she was alone. “Gurbhej caught hold of me and Jarnail tore my clothes and molested me. I raised the alarm and my brother-in-law turned up, following which they fled,” she said. No one has been arrested so far.
