Bathinda, August 13
High drama was witnessed at Prajapat Colony when family members of a 12-year-old boy raised the alarm saying that two car occupants allegedly attempted to kidnap their child.
As soon as residents gathered outside the grocery shop where the boy was sitting, the car occupants fled from the scene. While chasing their vehicle, one of the residents smashed the windscreen of their car with a stone.
The residents said some unidentified persons were roaming in their locality for the past few days. They added that on Tuesday, the two car occupants came to their area and parked their car 100 m away from a grocery shop. Sensing something suspicious, the owner of the shop and her son raised the alarm and local residents gathered at the shop.
Thereafter, the car occupants fled the spot. Later, DSP-II Kulwant Singh visited the spot to take stock of the situation.
However, the police had termed it a case of misunderstanding. Ravinder Singh, Station House Officer, Civil Lines police station, said, "The police have traced the vehicle and recorded statements of both parties. There was some confusion among residents and a compromise stated to have been reached between the two parties.”
