Bathinda, February 17

The GRP police arrested two persons and seized 28 kg of marijuana from their possession in two separate cases in Mansa.

While one was arrested from the waiting room of the Mansa police station, the other was arrested from Mall Godaam Road near the station. The accused have been identified as Ritesh Kumar and Anil Mehta, both residents of Bihar.

Investigating officer Gurmail Singh said during a routine checking yesterday, when GRP officials reached the waiting room at the railway station, Ritesh Kumar was present in the room. “On seeing them, he tried to leave the room in a hurry with his luggage. When his luggage was checked, the team recovered 14-kg of marijuana from his possession,” he said.

Gurmail said during another routine check, Anil Mehta was nabbed from Mall Godaam Road and 14-kg of marijuana was seized from him as well.

The GRP was conducting investigation into the case and was yet to figure out if the two travelled to Mansa together and if they were engaged in the illegal sale/purchase of the contraband for long.
