The Aam Aadmi Party’s candidate from Bathinda (Urban), Deepak Bansal, today raised objections over the SAD candidate Sarup Chand Singla’s nomination papers alleging that he had submitted an incomplete affidavit. However, after verification of facts, SDM Sakshi Sawhney turned down the complaint.

Deepak Bansal, through his counsel advocate Navneet Kumar Garg, submitted a letter to Returning Officer for Bathinda (Urban), SDM Sakshi Sawhney.

He said the affidavit (form number 26) submitted by Sarup Chand Singla was incomplete as in the annexure for the liabilities of the candidate and his spouse, he has not mentioned his liability to Corporation Bank.

He alleged that as per one English newspaper dated January 4, 2017, Singla and his wife had a liability of Rs. 3,98,69,492 as on dated May 5, 2014, and Rs 3,27,42,174.00 as on February 1, 2016, respectively.

The AAP candidate had also claimed that Sarup Chand Singla had not mentioned the complete details of his social media account.

He has Facebook account (https:// www.facebook.com/sarupsingla/) and twitter account (https://mobile.twitter.com/sarup_singla) pages in his name.

It again amounts to incomplete nomination papers and on these grounds, his nomination papers are liable to be rejected, Deepak Bansal had stated.

Another issue raised by Bansal was that Singla had not mentioned the property of his spouse situated at Barnala bye-pass, which is mortgaged with Corporation Bank, in his affidavit.

Bansal said Singla had wrongly mentioned that no criminal case was registered against him, whereas as per a Hindi newspaper dated January 19, 2017, a criminal case was registered against him.

While talking to Bathinda Tribune over these objections, Sarup Chand Singla said the complaint was baseless and his affidavit and nomination papers were correct.
