ADC takes stock of arrangements

BATHINDA: Preparations for the Baisakhi mela, which will be held from April 12 to 15, are in full swing at Takth Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo.

Preparations for the Baisakhi mela, which will be held from April 12 to 15, are in full swing at Takth Damdama Sahib in Talwandi Sabo. Bathinda Additional Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sahwney visited Talwandi Sabo and took stock of the ongoing preparations for the mela.

Sakshi Sahwney held a special meeting with officials of the district administration, in which she instructed them to complete all the arrangements on time so that devotees coming here do not face any problem. She took detailed information of preparations from officials of different departments.

She also stated that for any information and help, anyone can contact Sub Divisional Magistrate cum mela officer Talwandi Sabo on the number 01655-220241 and district development and panchayat officer cum assistant mela officer on the number 0164-2219042.

Divulging details regarding the preparations, ADC said Talwandi Sabo town has been divided into six sectors and in all these sectors help centers would be installed for the help of devotees. Even mela assistance centers would be installed at bus stand, sarovar in gurdwara and other important places in the town, where devotees would be given information regarding mela.

She said the main control room would be established at the Talwandi Sabo SDM’s office and a mini control room opened at Khalsa senior secondary school, Talwandi Sabo. Even four temporary bus stands would be made at Dasmesh School, Rori road, Rama road and Lelewala road.

The ADC claimed that even arrangements for life jackets, swimmers and boats would be made at the end of the sarovar for the safety of the devotees.

Instructing health department officials, the ADC said a health post should be installed in all the sectors, where all the basis medical items should be kept and doctor would be deployed. Two first-aid posts should also be installed near sarovar. She also told police department to make full proof security and traffic arrangements for the mela.

She also told the MCB Commissioner that he will be over all in-charge of cleanliness during the mela and special attention to be paid for watering, cleaning, fogging, etc.

Talwandi Sabo SDM-cum-Mela Officer Varinder Singh said they had instructed the deputy chief engineer, Powercom, Bathinda division, to ensure uninterrupted power supply and street lights to be on at night time during mela.

Rampura SDM Subhash Khatak, Bathinda SDM Balwinder Singh, SP (Traffic) Gurmeet Singh, District Development and Panchayat officer Harjinder Singh, DPRO Teja Singh, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Kundan Pal, DEO (Secondary) Maninder Kaur and various other officials were present in the meeting.
