Bathinda, April 20

After the Punjab government decided to set up Punjab State Aeronautical Engineering College (PSAEC) in Patiala, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) Vice-Chancellor Dr Mohan Paul Singh Ishar convened a meeting of officials of PSAEC and university here on Friday.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the steps to be taken for infrastructure development for starting courses and providing training facilities.

The officials also discussed plans to develop an aviation training hub at Patiala Civil Aerodrome.

Dr Ishar said the upcoming college would start functioning from the current academic session as BTech (Aeronautical Engineering) and BSc (Hons) in Aircraft Maintenance classes would start from the first week of August. The VC said the curriculum of both courses had already been finalised by the university while the classes of BTech (Aerospace Engineering) would start from the next session.

While stressing on the need for creating excellence in academic research and skill development, the VC said they needed to have a high level of personal integrity, commitment to accuracy and upholding standards in aviation engineering due to safety requirements.

While directing the officials to work hard to meet the deadline, the VC said the admission notice would be issued shortly.

An MoU signed on April 17 in the presence of Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh paved the way for setting up PSAEC in Patiala.

The MoU was inked by Secretary Civil Aviation Tejveer Singh, who is also the chairman of executive committee, PSCAC; and MRSPTU VC. The CM had assured of total support for developing the proposed institute.
