The Red Ribbon Club and girls’ student welfare committee of the SSD College of Professional Studies, Bhokhra, organised an event to make students aware of various issues like blood donation, de-addiction, district legal services provided by the government and the importance of self-defence.



The Red Ribbon Club and girls’ student welfare committee of the SSD College of Professional Studies, Bhokhra, organised an event to make students aware of various issues like blood donation, de-addiction, district legal services provided by the government and the importance of self-defence. Rakesh Narula, president, Bathinda Vikas Manch, spoke about various legal services provided at the various levels free of cost. He said Lok Adalats were held every month in Bathinda where people could avail services related to any disputes regarding family quarrels, property, job and labour-related issues. He urged the students to tell others about the services and not to get involved in wrong activities. Minakshi Berry, a social activist, highlighted the problems of drugs, how people get involved in drugs and how one can avoid being addicted to drugs. Pradeep Sharma, general secretary, District Wushu Association, Bathinda, threw light on the importance of self-defence. He said there were 39 sensitive points of the body, including face, neck and region below the belt, which could be attacked. He told the girl students that they must protest and react if they face any unusual problem. He said they must learn self-defence techniques and must take precautions for their safety. College principal Rajesh Singla said the students must adopt these guidelines and principles in their lives and become a good citizen.

World Oral Health Day

A function was organised by the NSS Department of Malwa College to mark World Oral Health Day and to create awareness about oral hygiene among the faculty and students of the college. Dr Mridul Mahajan, associate professor, Adesh Dental College, Bathinda, was the key speaker on this occasion. He advised the students to adopt a good oral hygiene habit to prevent oral diseases. He added that due to lack of awareness, most of the children and adults suffered from oral-related ailments. He also answered a number of queries of the students. In his address, college principal NK Gosain told the students about the importance of maintaining oral hygiene. He laid stress on the need for oral care from childhood. The principal also gave useful oral hygiene tips to the students. Dr Deepak Goyal, associate professor, Desh Bhagat Dental College, Mandi Gobindgarh, also graced the occasion as the guest of honour. — TNS
