Bathinda, December 28

Owing to the increased work pressure on bank employees due to demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, members of the Punjab Bank Employees Federation today staged a protest outside the zonal office of State Bank of Patiala, located on Amrik Singh Road.

Addressing the staff members, federation leaders said before demonetising the high value currency all of a sudden, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley didn’t think about the affects of it, which resulted in acute cash crunch.

They said while the Reserve Bank of India was not supplying enough cash to all bank branches, the bank employees had to face the ire of customers.

Since the bank employees have been working overtime to cater to the manifold increase in exchange and other monetary transactions, they should be remunerated accordingly, they said.

As it’s been close to two months of demonetisation, enough cash should be sent to all bank branches, they added.
