Bathinda boys & girls register win on Day 2 of throwball championship

BATHINDA: The girls’ and boys’ teams of hosts Bathinda won their respective matches on the second day of the 62nd Punjab State Sports Throwball (U-17) Championship for boys and girls here today.

Bathinda, December 6

The girls’ and boys’ teams of hosts Bathinda won their respective matches on the second day of the 62nd Punjab State Sports Throwball (U-17) Championship for boys and girls here today.

The boys’ team defeated Jalandhar while girls’ team beat Sangrur.

In other boys’ matches, Faridkot beat Jalandhar, Moga defeated Patiala, Tarn Taran outplayed Faridkot, Sangrur trounced Mohali, Patiala defeated Amritsar, Muktsar beat Fazika and Moga beat Ludhiana.

The winning teams entered the quarterfinals of the championship.

In the girls’ category, Patiala beat Ludhiana, Moga defeated Jalandhar, Sangrur outclassed Faridkot, Masa trounced Faridkot, Patiala beat Jalandhar and Sangrur defeated Mansa. Sangrur, Muktsar, Patiala and Moga reached the semifinals.

The matches were organised under the supervision of District Education Officer (Secondary) Khushbir Singh and Assistant Education Officer (Sports) Pavittar Kaur. Dr Amarjit Kaur Kotfatta, principal of the in-service training centre, was also present during the matches.

Karamjit Singh Mehta, Harmander Singh, Amritpal Kaur, Ruby Gupta, Jagdish Kumar, Sukhmander Singh, Yashwinder Singh, Karamjit Kaur, Harbhagwan Dass, Harpreet Singh, Kuldeep Kaur, Gurjant Singh, Praveen Puri, Jaswinder Singh and Jaswinder Kaur were also present during the matches.
