Municipal Commissioner Rishipal Singh told the MCB officials to improve things further to get highest rank in the country while congratulating them for their effort in making the city number one in the state.
Finance Minister and MLA from Bathinda (Urban) Manpreet Singh Badal, while congratulating MCB officials and city residents, claimed that now they should work to make the city cleanest in the country.
To do well in the survey, the MCB in January conducted a survey on its own, prior to the Union Ministry’s survey, at the hotels, hospitals and schools. It also took all precautions to ensure it didn’t earn negative marks.
The main reasons that Bathinda was ranked first in the state are that it was declared open defecation-free, cleaning of roads by road sweeping machines, starting of biometric attendance and green waste disposal machines.
City residents played a great role in achieving it as its points in public feedback were also good, which played a role in leaving behind Mohali, which has won many national level awards in sanitation and cleanliness.
To retain this rank, the MCB has to work hard in garbage collection and transportation and it has to resolve the complaints coming to it on time.
