Central varsity signs MoU with National Council of Rural Institutes

BATHINDA: The Central University of Punjab(CUP), Bathinda, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s (MHRD's) National Council of Rural Institutes (NCRI), Hyderabad, for making collective efforts to raise the bar of higher education and research focused on the issues of concern to rural India.

The Central University of Punjab(CUP), Bathinda, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Human Resource Development’s (MHRD's) National Council of Rural Institutes (NCRI), Hyderabad, for making collective efforts to raise the bar of higher education and research focused on the issues of concern to rural India.

The MoU was signed by Prof Jagdeep Singh, registrar, Central University of Punjab, Bathinda, (CUPB) and Dr WG Prasanna, Chairman, NCRI, in the presence of Prof RK Kohli, Vice-Chancellor, Prof P Ramarao, Dean, Academic Affairs, Dr Tarun Arora, Dr Deepak Chauhan, Dr Monisha Dhiman, Dr Rajendra Kumar, Dr Sandeep Kaur and Dr Ashwani Kumar from the CUPB, and Dr Rajnish Sharma, Curriculum Consultant, from the NCRI.

Prof Kohli said this exercise would facilitate both the partners to move jointly in academics, teaching, training and research fronts in the arena of rural studies. The purpose of the MoU was to support each other’s endeavours in the delivery of academic programmes and research activities through various steps. Prof Kohli added that the objectives of the research under the MoU would be designed in such a way that it would initiate the rural studies in real sense.

Highlighting the distinguished features of the document, Dr Prasana said both institutions intended to exchange resources, undertook collaborative research activities and provide guidance and research towards building a resilient rural India.

“Punjab has been found to be the most rural-friendly state in the country and the community engagement activities of the CUPB attracted us a lot,” he added.

The MoU will also fulfill a common vision of collaborative academic activity through inspiring and motivating young minds for research and innovations. It will certainly provide an opportunity to teachers, research scholars and students of both the partner institutions to learn through exchange of ideas and resources.

It was stated that during the period of the MoU, the universities would do their best to contribute in building intellectual capital through research, innovation and scholastic ideas.
