Changing of electric poles hits Internet, landline services

BATHINDA: Many landline telephone and internet connections are down due to changing of electric poles and wires by the PSPCL in the city.

Bathinda, March 19

Many landline telephone and internet connections are down due to changing of electric poles and wires by the PSPCL in the city.

Workers have left wires of telephone and internet companies laid on roads, due to which residents in some areas are facing problems in getting Internet and telephone network.

Even commuters are also at the receiving end due to wires lying on roads unattended after the work is completed by the private contractor hired by the PSPCL for the work.

Gurmeet Singh, a resident of the Civil Lines area, said, “Four days have passed since the PSPCL changed the poll and wires, but Internet and telephone network is lying defunct. It seems that there is a lack of coordination between the PSPCL, telephone and internet companies.”

Another resident Gurleen Kaur said it was unprofessional as if the companies knew that the work was going to be done, why didn’t they hire more workers so that customers didn’t face any problem.

She claims that she needs internet everyday for her official work, but for the past few days, she has been facing problems.

An official of Net Plus said PSPCL officials were informing them before changing the poles and wires, but there were a large number of connections due to which they were not able to do the work the same day. However, they are trying to do it at the earliest, he said. — TNS
