The CIA-1 wing of the police today claimed to have cracked a blind murder case in Rampura with the arrest of three accused. However, one of the accused is absconding.

The police have recovered an iron rode used in the murder, a wallet and a mobile phone of deceased Amandeep Singh, a resident of Rampura, who has been missing since June 25.

Addressing mediapersons, SSP Naveen Singla said Harbhajan Singh, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Rampura, had lodged a complaint at the Rampura (City) police station on June 29 that his son Amandeep Singh alias Deepa (24) was allegedly kidnapped by someone as he didn’t return home after June 25.

A case under Section 365 of the IPC had been registered but no clue was found.

On October 28, investigation was transferred to CIA-1 in-charge Rajinder Kumar and the CIA-1 team on yesterday booked four accused, Amandeep Singh alias Jammu, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Rampura, Bittu, a resident of Mehraj, Jinderpal, a resident of Dashmesh Nagar, Mehrej village, and Lovi, a resident of Rampura.

SSP Singla said a police team led by inspector Rajinder Kumar today arrested Amandeep Singh, Bittu and Jinderpal from the Rampura bus stand this morning. During investigation, the accused admitted to the crime.

The SSP said Jinderpal and Amandeep Jammu were close relatives. On June 23, Jinderpal and other three were drinking together.

Jinderpal alleged in front of his associates that Amandeep (deceased) of his street was following his sister-in-law. During the meeting, the accused made a plan to kill Amandeep, he added.

The SSP said as per the plan, Jammu invited Amandeep for drinks near his house.

After drinking, Deepa and Jammu went to Sidhana village. They stopped at a lonely place where Jinder, Lovi and Bittu also came and they again started drinking.

Around 9 pm, the accused attacked Amandeep Deepa with an iron rod and killed him.

The accused stole his purse, watch, mobile phone, ‘karra’ and other things to damage his identity and threw his body in the Sirhind canal.

Rajinder Kumar, in-charge of the CIA-1 wing, said Jinderpal was booked at the Phul police station on the charge of theft while Bittu was booked twice at Rattia for theft and also in a rape case at the Hanumangarh police station. Bittu was also a proclaimed offender.

The accused will be produced in the court tomorrow. The police are making efforts to arrest Lovi.
