A city-based Orthopaedic surgeon Dr Ajay Gupta (44) would attend four-week fellowship programme at the Orthopaedic Hospital, Lindenlohe, Germany.
Dr Ajay Gupta, who has been practicing at the Civil Hospital, Bathinda, for the past seven years, had applied for the fellowship in August 2017. Dr Gupta said, “Apart from providing hands-on experience to conduct research in Orthopaedics, the fellowship programme would enable me to train for new techniques of joint replacement and arthroscopy.
After the completion of the training, the patients visiting (mostly from the rural background) at the Civil Hospital would be treated with latest techniques.
Dr Gupta said they would get trained in primaryship, knee and shoulder arthroplasties.The fellowship programme will begin on February 13 and conclude on March 9.
Earlier, Dr Gupta had completed fellowship in shoulder, elbow and sports medicines from Konkuk University, Seoul, South Korea, in 2007.
