City residents show healthy appetite for Continental food

BATHINDA: Continental food is the kind of food which is eaten in European countries, but is now also getting popular among the Indians.

Continental food is the kind of food which is eaten in European countries, but is now also getting popular among the Indians.

Continental food contains less chillies and a minimal amount of spices. Fresh herbs are widely used in the continental recipes.

Pizzano, a multi-cuisine eating joint located on the Mall road, is providing continental cuisines at knockout prices for the past many years to the food lovers.

Continental dishes are quite popular in the city.

Italian penne, fettuccine pastas are the most popular which is served with red, white, mix or pesto sauces along with olives, mushrooms, broccoli, yellow pepper, red pepper, basil, oregano, baby corns and green capsicum.

Sudarshan Gupta alias Babli, owner of the eating joint, said their menu offered multi-international cuisines, including Continental, Chinese, Lebanese, Indian and Mexican.

He said, “When we introduced the continental cuisines at our eating joint long time back, then only a few people in the city were aware of it. With time, the residents have developed their taste for continental dishes as a large number of customers order continental cuisines.”

The continental dish which is very famous here is Paneer Shashlik. In this dish, paneer tomato capsicum is cooked in salsa sauce and are served with steamed vegetables and fried rice. This dish is also available in non-vegetarian version, in which paneer is replaced by chicken.

Other dishes which are famous in the city are classic mushroom, in which mushroom and garlic is cooked in white sauce and served with fried rice. Veg sizzler dish is served with healthy vegetables, fried rice, noodles and French fries and special continental pizza.

Mohan Negi, manager of the eating joint, said, “Food lovers are showing a great interest in continental cuisine and this trend has been increasing as the people have now become health conscious. These dishes are low in calories as they are made by stewing, grilling and roasting. So they make very less use of fats.

Shikhar Gupta, who was having paneer shashlik here, said the aroma and the taste of herbs used in this dish made this dish delicious.

Another food lover Parth, who was enjoying red sauce pasta, said he was enjoying the continental food as it is light and low calories as compared to the Indian food which is quite rich in calories.

To taste this delicious continental cuisine here, you will have to pay Rs 230 for Paneer Shashlik, Rs 230 for Classic Mushroom with French Fries, Rs 250 for Veg Sizzler, Rs 180 for Fried Chicken with two piece bread, Rs 290 for Chicken Shashlik, Rs 320 for non- veg sizzler, Rs 180 for Veg Pasta and Rs 215 for Non-Veg Pasta.
