To ensure that every family in Mansa has a toilet by the end of February, Mansa Deputy Commissioner Dharam Pal Gupta here today reviewed the progress of toilets’ construction under the open-defecation free (ODF) scheme.
The DC today convened a meeting with officials in this regard.
The DC directed SDMs of Mansa, Budhlada and Sardulgarh to personally monitor the work so that all toilets are constructed on time in their respective areas.
The DC said the construction of toilets in Mansa should be completed before February 28.
Officials of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department said an amount of Rs 30.81 crore was sanctioned for the project in the district. They said of the total amount, Rs 25.11 crore had been received.
The amount was being transferred to village sarpanches, the officials added.
The DC also instructed senior officials to ensure that an amount of Rs 15, 000 was transferred into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. The officials must ensure that the amount was spent on the construction of toilets, Gupta added.
Pawan Kumar, XEN of the Water Supply and Sanitation Department, said of the total 236 villages of Mansa, the construction work had been completed in 112 villages.
He said the target of constructing rest 8,000 toilets would also be completed within the stipulated time period.
Mansa SDM Abhijit Kaplish, Budhlada SDM Gursimran Singh, Sardulgarh SDM Latif Ahmed, Assistant Commissioner (General) Om Parkash and other officials of the departments concerned were also present at the meeting.
