Sanjiv Kumar, a head constable posted at the Civil Lines police station, was given CM’s medal for his devotion to duty by Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh during a state-level Independence Day function celebrated at Gurdaspur yesterday.

Sanjeev Kumar, a city resident, had single-handedly nabbed a proclaimed offender (PO), who jumped his parole in a drugs case.

The video of Sanjeev Kumar fighting and nabbing the accused, Brij Lal, on the Ajit road in the city went viral on social networking sites.

The video showed that the policeman nabbed him when he was trying to flee away.

The incident had been captured in the CCTV cameras installed outside an institute where it took place.

When he was in the Ajit road area for some work, he saw the accused there and nabbed him.

The accused offered money to Sanjeev but the latter refused.
