Cops beaten up for restricting residents

BATHINDA: A police team was attacked with sharp-edged weapons just because they stopped some residents from bursting firecrackers around 11 pm on Thandi Sadak near Church in the Railway colony area.

A police team was attacked with sharp-edged weapons just because they stopped some residents from bursting firecrackers around 11 pm on Thandi Sadak near Church in the Railway colony area.

In the incident, one ASI was seriously injured as attackers hit his head with a sword while two other policemen also received injuries. They fled from the spot.

ASI Parkash Singh, deployed at the Canal Colony police station, said he was with his two colleagues Kulwant Singh and Balwant Singh when the attackers tore his uniform and also snatched his mobile phone. All the three police officials have been admitted to the Civil Hospital.

A case has been registered against railway officials Dharamvir, Murari Lal Meena and other unidentified persons under Sections 307, 353, 379B, 332, 341, 186, 148 and 149 of the IPC. — TNS
