Diprava Lakra today took charge of office as Deputy Commissioner, Bathinda, after taking guard of honour at the District Administrative Complex here. A BTech in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Lakra was posted as Additional Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, before being posted here.

An IAS Officer of the 2005 batch, he began his career as Sub Divisional Magistrate, Dhuri, and had also been served as a Special Secretary (Home), Director Welfare Department, Punjab.

After assuming charge, he held a meeting with senior officers and district officers to review the status of welfare schemes and development works.

He also asked the officers to maintain punctuality and discipline in government offices, besides resolving public issues on a priority basis.

Assistant Commissioner Abhijeet Kaplish, Maur SDM Latif Ahmed, Talwandi Sabo SDM Subash Khatak, MC Commissioner Anil Garg, Assistant Commissioner Veerpal Kaur and Assistant Commissioner Roop Singh were among those present.
