Bathinda, January 18

To increase the participation of differently-abled voters in the elections, the District Election Commission today held an awareness rally in the city.

While flagging off the rally, District Election Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said Booth Level Officers (BLO) and anganwadi workers would facilitate such voters at all booths in the district.

Additional District Electoral Officer (ADEO) Shena Aggarwal, who is also ADC (D), said the Election Commission had directed to spread awareness about their rights among the differently-abled voters.

Today’s rally was held under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) programme and around 4,000 differently-abled voters were registered in the district, the ADEO added.

Around 550 volunteers and officials, including NCC cadets, NSS volunteers, took part in the awareness rally.
