The police today arrested eight persons in separate cases with drugs and illicit liquor while four managed to escape.
According to Kotwali police station constable Jaswant Singh, he received a tip-off that Gobindpura village resident Jagsir Singh was carrying illicit liquor.
Jagsir Singh was nabbed with 24 bottles of country-made liquor.
The constable at the Sadar police station has said he received information that an Alto car without number plate was parked at Sardargarh village.
When they reached the spot and searched the car, they found 180 bottles of liquor made in Haryana, he added.
The accused fled from the spot but the police have registered a case under the Excise Act against Simranjit Singh and Tinku, residents of Balluana.
In another case, ASI Jagroop Singh at the Sangat police station has arrested Parkash Chand with 30 kgs of poppy husk at Gurusar Sainiwala village.
A case has been registered against the accused under the NDPS Act.
ASI Jaskaran Singh at the Rama police station has arrested Amritpal Singh with 4 kgs of opium and a case has been registered in this regard.
Constable Gurdeep Singh at the Kotfatta police station said he stopped Kuldeep Singh driving a car at a naka and recovered 348 bottles of country-made Haryana brand liquor from his possession.
In another case, police constable Gurvinder Singh arrested Gurpreet Singh with 12 bottles of illicit liquor at Kotshamir.
Nandgarh police station ASI Inderjit Singh has arrested accused Balkar Singh, a resident of Bajak, with 200 intoxicant tablets at Ghudda village.
In another case, ASI Gamdur Singh at the Nandgarh police station has arrested Kaka Singh and Rakesh Kumar, residents of Kaljharani, and recovered 319 intoxicant tablets from their possession at Chak Atar Singhwala village.
ASI Gurdev Singh at the Rama police station said a police team raided a place in Gurthari village and recovered 12 bottles of country-made Haryana brand liquor and 11 bottles of illicit liquor while accused Baldev Singh fled from the spot. A case has been registered against Baldev Singh.
In another case, Phul police station ASI Amritpal Singh has recovered a 25 litres of lahan but the accused succeeded in running from the spot.
The police have registered a case against Gurjit Singh.
Phul police station ASI Lakhbir Singh has recovered 5 gms of smack from Buta Singh, a resident of Harnam Singh Wala village, at Sidana village.
