Families of war heroes today were taken to Amritsar to participate in the inaugural ceremony of the Punjab State War Heroes Memorial and Museum. The war memorial has been constructed to showcase the sacrifices made by the Punjabis while serving in the armed forces. The ceremony for the memorial will be held tomorrow.
The Bathinda Sainik Welfare Department has made all travelling arrangements for the families.
The families consist of members of ex-servicemen, war widows of the Indo-China War and the India-Pakistan wars and the World War II. Around eight buses from Bathinda today departed for Amritsar, carrying banners. Similarly in Mansa, families of war heroes have also been taken to Amritsar by buses.
Sainik Welfare Officer Sarabjit Singh Sangha said, “Äbout 400 members of martyrs families from Bathinda and 350 from Faridkot have been taken to Amritsar.”
