Power Minister Gurpreet Singh Kangar said eight-hour uninterrupted power supply would be provided to farmers in the state during the upcoming paddy season. All arrangements have been made in this regard, he said.
He said the Punjab Government was committed to providing all facilities to farmers.
Kangar was presiding over a function related to eye check-up and operation camp organised by Sant Triveni Giri Punar Jyoti Eye Donation Hospital Society at Rampura.
Kangar also announced that the work of laying hotline from the Lehra Mohabat thermal plant to Rampura was going on and after it is completed, residents of the city would not have to face power cut even for a minute.
The Power Minister said earlier Rampura had made a name in blood donation and now it was coming up in eye donation, free eye check-up and operation camps.
Kangar also inaugurated a machine worth Rs 5 lakh in the OPD, which is donated by Shiv Shakti Cotton Factory.
Kangar also announced Rs 1 lakh for the society and said in future as well the state government would help the society in the social works that it undertakes for needy people.
Divulging details about the camp, Rakesh Tayal said check up of 423 patients and operations of 125 patients were done during the camp.
He said to date, with the help of the society, 1,150 needy people have been able to get eyes donated by others.
Director Vijay Kumar Goyal, Bathinda Civil Surgeon Dr HN Singh, Rampura SMO Dr Amrik Singh Sandhu, Rampura DSP Sukhmander Singh Chahal and others were present on the occasion.
