Deputy Commissioner Diprava Lakra today held a meeting with the farmers and members of self-help groups (SHGs) at the District Administrative Complex. During the meeting, he motivated the farmers to adopt agri-allied business to supplement their farm income such as bee keeping, cultivation of vegetables and dairy farming etc.
The DC said small and medium farmers should adopt agri-allied business. The allied business not only supplements farm income but also ensures the optimum use of existing resources. The potato growers said that the Bathinda belt is well known for potato production and it can also be used as food for the dairy animals.
The members of different SHGs told the Deputy Commissioner that they require land to set up their business. On this, the Deputy Commissioner assured that he would write to the government seeking help for it. The vegetable growers too shared their tips with the gathering.
