Govt committed to help debt-ridden farmers, says Harsimrat Badal

Union Minister for Food Processing Harsimrat Kaur Badal reiterated the Punjab Government’s commitment to extend all possible help to the debt-ridden farmers.

After addressing various issues of Harranpura and Dhelwan during a sangat darshan programme conducted at Gobindpura village, Harsimrat Badal said the Government was committed to resolving all issues of the farmers and different farmer welfare schemes had been launched in this regard.

She said from tomorrow onwards, the Punjab Government would launch the Bhagat Puran Singh Health Insurance Scheme, which was part of the series of pro-farmer initiatives the government had launched.

Responding to a media query on the SGPC’s move to form a committee to probe into incidents of attack on Sikhs on foreign land, the Union Minister appreciated the decision and said it was the need of the hour so that such racist attacks could be stopped in future.

She said post 9/11 America attack, Sikhs in foreign countries had been facing many kind of problems for which the Punjab Government has timely appealed to the Central government to run campaigns and create awareness regarding Sikhs.

Terming the hurling of shoe on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as unfortunate, the Union Minister said this way of protesting was inappropriate. She said politicians should understand the feelings of people and should consider their demands seriously.

Answering a question on the solid waste management plant constructed on the Bathinda-Mansa road, she said the project was set up after getting an approval from the National Green Tribunal (NGT).

Earlier, the Union Minister, while addressing a large gathering, said people of the state should decide between good and bad for the 2017 polls as the SAD-BJP alliance had heralded overall development for poor, needy, farmers and industry and had always stood by them.

Harsimrat Badal approved Rs 19 lakh for work at Harrangpura village, Rs 12 lakh to Gobindpura and Rs 1.10 crore grant for Jail Road.

For Dhelwan village, she gave approval for Rs 25 lakh grant. Earlier, she conducted sangat darshan programmes at Joganand and Bibiwala village.

She inaugurated water supply project at Nathana and laid foundation stones of CC flooring work.

She also conducted a sangat darshan programme at Nathpura village, Kalyan Sukha and Bhaini, at Ganga village, Gidder, Kalyanm Malka, Kalyan Sadda, Kothe Gobind Nagar, Mari Bajjoana and Burj Dalla.
