Dharam Pal Gupta, a 2004-batch IAS officer, on Monday took charge as the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Barnala at the District Administrative Complex. Former Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori has been transferred to Sangrur district.
Before joining at Barnala, Gupta was posted as Deputy Commissioner, Mansa, and prior to that he was Director, Technical Education Punjab.
After taking charge, Gupta visited administrative offices inside the District Administrative Complex and also conducted a special check at the Civil Hospital, Barnala.
He said he would ensure proper disposal of all complaints of the needy. He also directed all officers to take required steps to help residents.
“People must get full attention of all officers and if anyone is found not dealing properly, he would face action as we must act as public servants. Timely and speedy disposal of grievances, expeditious processing of revenue cases and timely execution of development projects would remain my top priorities,” he said.
During his visit to the Civil Hospital, the Deputy Commissioner thoroughly inspected every ward and facility.
He also sought the list of requirements regarding the staff and other items and ensured that all demands would be addressed soon.
Barnala SSP Harjit Singh, ADC (development) Parveen Kumar, SDM Sandeep Kumar, Assistant Commissioner (General) Mankanwal Singh Chahal, AC (Grievances) Himanshu Gupta and other officers also attended the meeting with the Deputy Commissioner.
