Bathinda, March 21
SAD leader Gurpreet Singh Maluka, who is also the chairman of the Zila Parishad, Bathinda, today threatened to stage a protest against the Rampura police if the cases registered against party leaders and workers were not cancelled.
He has given a seven-day ultimatum to the police to stop registering new ‘false’ cases and cancel the old ones against the SAD office-bearers.
The SAD leader said after registering a case against Rocky Kansal, the police have booked former president of the Rampura Phul Municipal Council Happy Bansal, his wife Saloni Bansal and father Lachman Dass.
Gurpreet Maluka, along with other party leaders, today met Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Swapan Sharma and demanded a fair probe into the cases registered against their party leaders and workers in Rampura Phul.
Divulging the details of the case registered against Happy Bansal and his family members, Maluka said, “Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Gill Kalan, along with his associates, barged into the house of Happy and tried to abduct his five-year-old son. Later, the family members started shouting and residents of the area gathered outside their house. The police was informed about the incident on helpline number 100.”
“Instead of taking action against the accused, the police registered a case against Happy Bansal and his family members under Sections 342, 323, 356, 506 and 149 of the Indian Penal Code,” he added.
Maluka alleged that the Rampura police was working under the influence of the local MLA. He also accused the police of implicating the SAD workers in false cases.
The SAD leader has also written to the DGP and Human Right Commission demanding justice.
Surinder Jaura of Beopar Mandal, president of the Shellar association Gurtej Sharma, local truck union president Nirmal Singh Burj, councillor Surjit Singh and others were present during the meeting with the SSP.
