Hindu outfits want Mayor booked for hurting sentiments

BATHINDA: Mayor Balwant Rai Nath landed into a controversy after he cut the ‘Shivling cake’ during a Maha Shivaratri function organised by Brahmkumari Ashram in the Ganesha Basti area of the city.

Bathinda, March 8

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath landed into a controversy after he cut the ‘Shivling cake’ during a Maha Shivaratri function organised by Brahmkumari Ashram in the Ganesha Basti area of the city.

Shivsena Hindustan district president Sushil Kumar Jindal said Mayor Balwant Rai Nath, who was holding a responsible post in the city, had done a condemnable act by cutting the ‘Shivling cake’ and hurting the sentiments of the Hindu community.

He said if this act had been done by any other person, then by now, a case would have been registered by the police, but due to the patronage of the SAD, the police were ignoring this act.

He demanded that if the police didn’t register a case for hurting the religious sentiments against the Mayor in the next 24 hours, then the whole Hindu community would come on roads.

Bajrang Dal leader Sandeep Aggarwal condemned the act of the Mayor.

Yuva Brahmin Sabha leader Ashutosh Tiwari and Shivsena leader Sanjiv Sharma today met Senior Superintendent of Police Swapan Sharma and submitted a written complaint demanding registration of a case against the Brahmkumari Ashram.

Vishva Hindu Parishad leader Sukhpal Sra said, “Brahmkumaris don’t believe in the existence of Lord Shiva and they don’t have any right to play with the feelings of the Sanatan religion.”

He demanded that the administration should take strict action against the Brahmkumaris at the earliest.

Mayor Balwant Rai Nath said he was totally unaware about the ‘Shivling cake’ as it was decorated with flowers. He said a boy came to him and asked him to cut the cake.

He is himself a follower of Lord Shiva and can’t even think of doing this deliberately in his dreams, he added. — TNS
