Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA from Bathinda (Rural) Rupinder Kaur Ruby said despite being in the Opposition, she would fight for the rights of the people of her constituency.

The newly elected MLA said lack of educational institutes was the major issue in her constituency.

“There are many villages in my constituency, which don’t have a school. Residents of Sangat Mandi have been demanding a girl’s college since long,” she added.

The AAP MLA stated that there were a number of villages where people had been demanding upgrade of their schools up to 10th and 12th standards.

She pointed out after the 70 years of the Independence, there are a number of people who are still deprived of basic civic amenities.

Ruby said her party’s agenda was now to press the government to fulfil the promises made to the people during the elections.

“The main agenda of my party is to remind the Congress of its promises made to farmers regarding waive off debts. The Congress has claimed that it would not allow the auction of the properties of the farmers who have not paid their debt. We will now raise the voice of all those farmers whose properties will be auctioned for not clearing their debt,” Ruby said.

“The Congress has also promised to curb the drug menace within four weeks after coming to power. If the Congress fails to deliver its promise, then our party will raise its voice against the government,” she said.

Talking about the reasons behind the defeat of AAP in the elections, she said, “We have discussed the reasons behind our defeat at a meeting. We will now try our best to mend our ways to fight for the larger public interest in the coming days.”
