Bathinda, June 19

A girl of Wander village in Moga district on Tuesday accused a local immigration agency of duping her of money on the pretext of sending her abroad.

She also lodged a complaint with the SSP, Bathinda, demanding action against the owner of the immigration agency. She has also made a complaint to the deputy commissioner demanding a probe into the registration of the immigration agency in the city.

Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, complainant Gurpreet Kaur said she had done BSc (medical) and even she had cleared IELTS test as well. For her better future she wanted to go abroad and for which she contacted the immigration agency in Bathinda and the agency owner took the responsibility of sending her to Canada and took Rs 14,500 first and then did an agreement of Rs 13 lakh for making her visa for Canada. She also gave Rs 27,000 for applying her file and Rs 10,000 for the medical and in January they applied her file.

Further she said in 2018, the agency owner told her to go to Australia instead of Canada, but she refused for Australia and her file for Canada got rejected in March, later when she asked her file back, then the agency owner did not give back her file nor did they refund her money back.

Gurpreet Kaur also stated that the agency owner also told her that fund which they had to show to go foreign in back account, that they do it as they have a setting with a bank. She alleged that agency owner had also put fraud documents after 12th class due to which they are not returning her file, due to which she can’t apply for visa again as embassy might take action against her for putting fraud documents in the file.
