Waiting for promotion from the JBT/ETT cadre to master cadre, teachers of government primary schools have decided to protest against the state government.
Member of the Democratic Teachers Front today announced that they would launch an indefinite stir against the State Education Department if the promotion process continued to hang in abeyance.
Elaborating on their demand, union leaders Paramjit Singh and secretary Baljinder Singh said promotions motivated the employees to work efficiently but in the government primary schools, the teachers had been waiting for promotions for nearly a decade now.
Several JBT/ETT teachers have retired waiting for promotion to master cadre, they added.
They said the department didn’t call for promotion cases and if the cases were submitted, the files were not opened.
“The last government had called for promotion cases but the applications were not processed. Teachers in all other cadres were given promotions but the JBT/ETT teachers were left out. Now, even after forming the government in the state, the Congress is yet to take up the issue of promotions of primary teachers,” Baljinder Singh said.
He added that although the Education Minister had made tall promises, he was yet to work on them.
Paramjit Singh said the government had adopted an anti-employee policy as it raised one or the other objection on the promotion cases.
The union members announced that they would be left with no option but to launch stir against the state government for not heeding their demands.
