A junior engineer with Powercom, Pawan Kumar Garg, today fired at his wife Renu Garg and son Sahil Garg with his licensed revolver, injuring them. He fired three rounds.

Renu suffered a bullet injury in leg while her son Sahil was hit in his foot.

Both mother and son were admitted to the Civil Hospital from where they were shifted to a private hospital. Accused Pawan Kumar managed to escape after the incident.

The Canal Colony police registered a case against Pawan Kumar under Section 307 of the IPC and 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act on the statement of his wife Renu Garg, who is a teacher at Government Primary School in Amarpura Basti.

In her complaint, she has alleged that her husband has been mentally upset for the past sometime and his treatment was going on at a local hospital.

Six months ago, he shot in his own leg with his licensed revolver. She has alleged that he has been mentally torturing her for the past two weeks. Last night, he abused her, she added.

According to Renu, when her son Sahil left the room for getting milk this morning, Pawan opened fire, which hit both of them. People gathered at their home but before that the accused managed to escape.

Later, their neighbours took them to the hospital. SHO Devinder Singh said a case had been registered and the accused would be held soon.
