Members of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India (RMPI) and CPI Liberation took out a protest march against drugs here on Wednesday.

The march led by Harwinder Singh Sema and Bhagwant Singh Samao started from the Fire Brigade chowk and concluded at the district administrative complex.

Thereafter, the members submitted a memorandum to Naib Tehsildar Lakhvir Singh Virk.

They said the objective of holding the protest march was to create awareness about the ill-effects of drugs among the people.

In the memorandum, they demanded action against those who are involved in the drug trade, including influential politicians and police officers.

The Left leaders said the responsibility of SHOs should be fixed for the deaths due to drugs and the report of the Special Task Force (STF) be made public.
