Bathinda, February 22

The Manmohan Kalia Enclave Flat Allottees’ Association has written to the Secretary of the Local Bodies Department, demanding a probe by an independent agency into a Bathinda Improvement Trust’s scheme and refund of their money deposited with the Trust for purchasing the flats.

In the letter, flat owners have stated that in 2010, the Bathinda Improvement Trust had invited applications for the allotments of the flats in Manmohan Kalia Enclave and offered 96 multi-storey apartments and pent houses, which were to include walled community living, earthquake-resistant structure, community centre, fire safety, rain water harvesting and many other facilities.

They also claimed that the Trust had agreed to provide water supply, drainage, sewerage, street lightening, sanitary, garbage collection and other basic civic amenities.

The possession of completed flats was agreed to be handed over within two years, by October 20, 2013.

They said a period of 69 months had elapsed, but the flats were still not in a position to be occupied for residence and the material used was also sub-standard.

Members of association said the allotees had now sent notices to the Trust to refund the amount deposited, along with the interest and a compensation of Rs 10 lakh. — TNS
