Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal today instructed Municipal Commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal to conduct a probe into the working of Triveni Engineer and Construction company, which has been given the Rs 288 crore water supply and sewerage project in the city.

Manpreet said they were getting complaints regarding water supply and sewerage and reports about the working of Triveni company.

He told the Municipal Commissioner that if Triveni was not working properly then he should search for other options.

Manpreet Badal today held a meeting with residents of Ward Number 1 and officials at the Lake View guest house.

He announced to give Rs 22 crore for various developmental works in the area, which include water supply, sewerage pipes, sewerage treatment plant and others.

In the meeting, officials of various departments, including Municipal Commissioner Sanyam Aggarwal, XEN Sandeep Gupta, XEN Davinder Jaura, sewerage board XEN Ashwani Kumar, water supply SDO Ravi Kumar, PSPCL XEN Gagandeep Singla and B&R XEN Inderjit Singh were present.

The wife of the Finanace Minister, Veenu Badal, and Congress Ward Number 1 area in-charge Tehal Singh Sandhu were also present in the meeting.

Residents of Adarsh Nagar, Kothe Poohle Wale, Mandir colony, Dhillon colony, Guru Nanak Nagar, Sucha Singh Nagar, Home Land locality and Kartar colony claimed that Ward Number 1 had been ignored, owing to infighting between SAD and BJP as the ward is represented by BJP leader and deputy mayor Gurinderpal Kaur Mangat.

Sucha Singh Nagar residents raised the issue of closed the sewa kendra in the area, on which Manpreet Badal said they were reviewing the work of sewa kendras and after seeing last year’s working, the sewa kendras which have less work would be shifted or closed, but the sewa kendra of Ward Number one is not being shifted.

Manpreet also ordered the officials to make the estimates of roads. He told the officials to make proper planning to tackle water-logging in the city during rains.

He directed that from today, officials should start getting the motors repaired and if there was need to install new motors, they should get the work done so that people should not face any problem during this year’s rainy season.
