Bathinda, February 18
The police are yet to book anyone in connection with loot of a Swift Dzire car near the Nehianwala police station on the Bathinda-Goniana road.
It was recovered from Hindu Kotmall village in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan by the Punjab Police after the encounter of notorious gangsters Vicky Gounder and Prema Lahoria on January 26.
The car was recently identified by its owner Rajinder Kumar, SDO with the Powercom in Bathinda, as he accompanied a local police team to Sriganganagar.
The car was identified through engine and chassis number. The car owner has started the legal process to get it back.
However, the police have not booked anyone as the car has been recovered. They are still saying that the investigation is underway.
According to sources, the police are working on the theory that two persons looted the car at gunpoint.
Besides, the police are also seeking the remand of notorious gangster Harsimranjeet Singh Sema Behbal, who is in the custody of the Faridkot police.
Some police officials believed that the car was allegedly snatched by Sema Behbal and handed over to Vicky Gounder at Yamunanagar.
Gounder needed a car in November last year as one of his cars got damaged in the accident while another was seized by the police from Shasrolli near Yamunanagar.
Angrej Singh, SHO of the Nehianwala police station, said the investigation was on and action would be taken soon.
