The anti-narcotics wing of the Bathinda police on Wednesday arrested a person with one and a half kgs of opium.
A case has been registered at the Nathana police station under Sections 18, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act. The accused has been identified as Manoj Kumar, a resident of Aligarh. He was arrested twice before by the Faridkot police and the Bathinda police.
Gurdeep Singh, in-charge of the narcotics wing of the Bathinda police said acting on a tip-off, a police team led by ASI Gurdarshan arrested Manoj Kumar with the opium. During interrogation, the accused told the police that he purchased the opium from Jharkhand and came here to deliver. Manoj has links in Bathinda and Faridkot and interrogation is on, he added.
