Over 50% Bathinda cops are unfit, says medical report

BATHINDA: More than 50 per cent of the cops in Bathinda district are unfit.

More than 50 per cent of the cops in Bathinda district are unfit. This has been stated in the recently released annual medical report by the police department.

According to the report, a total of 504 policemen, including officers, in the district, are overweight. The report said only three policemen were found to have lesser weight.

According to the medical report, 11 cops are facing heart problem while close to 175 policemen have liver problems.

A total of 79 cops are suffering from uric acid while close to 150 cops are affected by diabetes.

The report highlighted that women police personnel are more fit than male cops. A few years ago, a number of cops were diagnosed with Hepatitis-C and the police department released some amount for their treatment.

Senior Superintendent of Police Naveen Singla said they had a well-equipped gym at the Police Lines and the Bathinda police won the annual zonal sports meet this year. He said the district cops also secured the third position in a state-level competition.

TheSenior Superintendent of Police said the cops had tremendous workload, but a fitness programme for them would be launched soon.
