Bathinda, December 12

Members of the Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Employees Union today went on a two-day strike to demand third pay revision. They protested outside the BSNL office in Bharat Nagar.

The protesters raised slogans against the Union government. They alleged that to support private companies, the Union government had not promoted the BSNL.

The union members were demanding implementation of the third pay commission, revised 15 per cent fitment from January 1, 2017, and other allowances.

They also demanded that the issue regarding the second pay revision should also be addressed.

Employees said the third pay revision committee headed by Justice Satish Chandra had submitted its report and on July 19 and the Union cabinet had also approved it, but it has not been implemented till date.

They alleged that the government did not allow the BSNL to purchase material to expand its mobile network from 2006 to 2012. Even a tender was also issued to purchase the material but it was cancelled by the government.

Union members Tara Singh, Vishal Kumar, Manohar Lal, Gurpreet Singh, Ramdas Sodhi and others were present during the protest.
