Police job: 2 booked for duping 5 of Rs19 lakh

BATHINDA: Two persons have fled from the city after allegedly duping five persons of Rs 19 lakh on the pretext of providing jobs in the Police Department.

Two persons have fled from the city after allegedly duping five persons of Rs 19 lakh on the pretext of providing jobs in the Police Department.

The Kotwali police station has registered a case against the accused and started a probe into the incident.

SHO Davinder Singh said the accused had been identified as Ravinder Sharma, a resident of Nai Basti and Jasvir Singh, a resident of Nehiawala.

The police have booked them on the basis of the statement of Jasvir Singh, a resident of Khwaja Kharak Singhwala in Ferozepur district.

Jasvir has stated that he was a farmer and came in contact with the accused through his relative Roshan Singh.

The accused bragged about their approach and promised him to get his son, who completed BA in 2016, recruited in the Police Department.

He said he gave Rs 3 lakh to them but later both fled away.

Jasvir Singh said later he came to know that the accused had also duped Gurtej Singh, a resident of Dan Singhwala village, Jaswant Singh, a resident of Nehiawala, Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Gulabgarh, and Sikander Singh of Rs 16 lakh on the
