Bathinda, April 26

Members of the Joint Forum of BSNL Officers Association continued their hunger strike at the BSNL office in Bharat Nagar here today. They have been pressuring the organisation to accept their demands regarding pay hike and promotion.

Association convenor Tara Singh submitted a memorandum to higher officials of the organisation. The protesters said despite several reminders, their demands had not been fulfilled, so they had decided to observe hunger strike for three days.

The protesters, including Alok Sahu, Suresh Chander, Hans Raj, Raj Kumar and Iqbal Singh, said several employees had not been promoted for years. They said the BSNL officials should be paid as per the revised and standard pay scales.

Raising slogans against the management, the employees threatened to intensify their stir in case their demands were not met.
