Bathinda, March 28

The National Pulse Polio Round will be held from April 2 to 4 under which 1,54,950 children in 0 to 5 years of age will be administered polio vaccine.

Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Diprava Lakra said this while addressing a meeting convened to oversee arrangements in this regard.

The Deputy Commissioner appealed to the people to take their children to the nearest polio booths to get the vaccine.

“Instead of waiting for the Health Department teams to administer vaccine at their doorstep, people should come out with their children and visit the nearest booth. All of us need to contribute towards eradication of polio,” he emphasised.

He said 694 polio booths had been set up in the district.

Apart from this, 32 transit teams, 28 mobile teams and 1,240 house-to-house teams have been constituted to ensure 100 per cent coverage of the targeted children from 9 am to 3 pm on April 2, 3 and 4.

Total 2,436 health workers will be working under the campaign.

The DC said ASHA workers, ANMs, male health workers and others had already been imparted training in this regard.

Besides, complete arrangements have been made for cold store chains wherein the vaccines are stored.

Bathinda Civil Surgeon Dr Raghubir Singh Randhawa said at the village-level, supervisors had been designated.

At villages, the sarpanchs and lambardars have been asked to make public announcements from gurdwaras and temples, motivating people to get their children vaccinated.
