Malout police, singers meet
Malout: Under the state police’s ongoing drive of meeting singers and urging them not to glamourise liquor and gangsters in their performances, Superintendent of Police (SP), Malout Iqbal Singh, today met some singers and lyricists at his office here. The SP informed that singers Gurwinder Brar, Satpal Bhundar and lyricists Nirmal Singh Deol, Jasveer Saini had come to his office today, where he asked them to refrain from such practice. In response, the singers and lyricists told him that they were never in favour of such culture. “We however demand that the police deals strictly with those carrying weapons during the weddings and other such occasions. If they act strictly against such people, we will also feel secure while performing at functions,” said the artistes. Notably, a majority of the singers and lyricists did not turn up for the meeting.
