Bathinda, December 19

Getting a shot in the arm with a favourable decision by the Punjab and Haryana High Court, a deputation of residents of Ward Number 15, headed by the member of the Nagrik Chetna Manch, Jagmohan Kaushal, met the Commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Bathinda, Dalwinderjit Singh, today, and demanded development of two parks in their area.

In a memorandum submitted with the MCB, the residents demanded that the corporation should take full responsibility of development of the two parks, falling in the area between Khasra no 2441 and 2445, after the High Court’s decision in the case, which was being fought by the Manch.

Members of the Manch said the MCB would have to develop the parks as per the town planning scheme 3, Part 2.

The two parks are — the first located between street number 3 and 3A on Bibiwala Road and the second between street number 3 and 6 on Ajit Road.

Requesting the MCB to act on their request at the earliest, the residents said the development of these parks was badly needed as it would be used for recreational purposes by the residents, especially the children, of the area.
