Bathinda, January 15

City roads remained submerged in dirty water due to a breach occurred in the sullage carrier near the solid waste treatment plant on the second consecutive day. The breach was reported on Friday night. The work of plugging the breach has been underway since Saturday morning.

Besides Power House Road, roads leading to the residence of the IGP, District Administrative Complex, Women police station, residence of the Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent of Police remained affected.

Atul Garg, a resident of the city, said, “It is very disappointing to see that the issues of sewage overflow and waterlogging have not been solved despite tall claims made by political parties during the elections. All remain on papers as nothing has been done at the grassroots level.”

An XEN of the MC said, “The work of plugging the breach is on and will be completed by tonight. The reason behind the breach is a heavy flow of water in the sullage carrier.”
