Bathinda, September 24

Punjab Finance Minister and MLA from Bathinda (Urban) Manpreet Singh Badal today said Rs 2 lakh loan waiver had been approved by the state government as per its capacity and financial condition.

Replying to a media query that before the elections, the Congress had announced that it would waive all loans of farmers but now only Rs 2 lakh loan waiver had been given, Manpreet said it was better than the loan waiver given to farmers by other states such as Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra.

Manpreet added that Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh had told him to provide Rs 10,000 crore for the farmers’ loan waiver.

The Finance Minister today also announced that they would hold a seminar for industrialists in the city on October 28 in which 28 leading industrialists would participate and would have a dialogue with residents about how traders of the city could benefit from them.

He said these industrialists would also set up their industries in the region.

While addressing the workers during a party meeting organised at a palace, Manpreet Badal said he never promised them that he would get their roads repaired or involve himself in small local issues, but he had promised that he would bring industry here and boost trade in the region.

He said by setting up industries here, jobs would be created and local traders would also get benefits.

Manpreet Badal today inaugurated his office at the Panchayat Bhawan near Multipurpose Sport Stadium in the city.
