SAD councillor from Ward Number 29 and senior vice-president of the SAD city unit, Tarloch Singh, on Thursday resigned from the party, levelling allegations against party leader and former MLA Sarup Chand Singla for not listening to senior leaders.

While talking to Bathinda Tribune, Tarloch Singh said he had sent his resignation to the district party president and party supremo.

He said sacrifices of workers led to the creation of SAD, but today bad elements were quite active in the party and there is little respect for its workers.

Tarloch Singh said Khalsa Diwan Singh Sabha former president and SAD councillor Rajinder Singh Sidhu committed a misdeed with the Dalit girl and instead of supporting the Rathore community and the victim, Sarup Chand Singla supported the accused.

Due to these reasons, which led to his mental harassment, he is resigning from all party posts, he added.

He said he approached Sukhbir Singh Badal and Harsimrat Kaur Badal and brought the incident to their notice, but despite this no action had been initiated.

Tarloch said for the past 20 years, he had represented the party as councillor in the city.

He said whether its Vidhan Sabha or Lok Sabha elections, SAD had never trailed in his ward.

The Rathore community is upset with the SAD leadership, he added.

Speculation was rife that since a case was registered against Rajinder Singh Sidhu on the complaint of Tarloch Singh, he would quit the party.

It became more evident on Wednesday when he was appointed president of Khalsa Senior Secondary School while most Congress leaders were given plum posts.

In 2015, Tarloch had opened a front against Sarup Chand Singla over ignoring his name and considering Balwant Rai Nath for the post of mayor and since then he is not on good terms with SAD.
